Welcome to Galaxsi Studios 2022
Welcome! This is the first official post that is directly related to Galaxsi Studios for 2022! I wanted to take some of your time today to explain what exactly Galaxsi Studios is & my plans for the year of 2022! I will be covering multiple different aspects that I will be focusing on this year in terms of project goals. I will be going through the goals of each project in detail in multiple different posts in the coming days but for now, I want to write a more overall post and a central point of everything going on. I will also be doing a more personal goal blog post after next week. I will be also going through this during my first livestreaming on the Galaxsi Studios Twitch Channel & will be planning to upload the archive to Youtube shortly after.
What is Galaxsi Studios?
Though I do throw this name around on projects that I work on, I don’t think I have fully explained what Galaxsi Studios in streams or in posts. Well, currently it’s my branding name that I usually slap onto projects instead of using my real name and something that can be related back to me. One of my primary goals in life is to run this as a business with multiple different outlets of services but we are a long way off from that. Currently, Galaxsi Studios acts as my software & game development content. Though my stream channel Matgalaxsi is not under the “Galaxsi Studios” umbrella, I do consider part of my brand. I guess you could call my brand GALAXSI which I define as bringing people together to have fun, smile which in turn will make doing activity a lot more engaging.
A little about me
You can go through this website and find as much as you need to know about me but to put things simple, my name is Mathew & I am the director of Galaxsi Studios. I am based in Queensland Australia & have graduated my university with a Bachelor of Serious Games with minors in Programming, Interactive Narrative & Game Development. My experience includes 8 years of practice of programming (including 4 years professional experience), livestreaming (on Twitch TV) for the last 2 years which involves me playing games in front of a casual audience and interacting with them. One of my core beliefs is that Gamification (The idea of using game mechanics and applying them to everyday or tedious routine tasks) is the future as it has been proven to increase engagement with the context, add healthy amount of competition and if we were to put down to the very basic, makes doing activities much more fun.
My current content
Currently, there are 2 types of content that I currently work on including Galaxsi Bot & my gaming livestream called Matgalaxsi. Since 2020, both have been what has made the face of Galaxsi Studios. Galaxsi Bot acts as my chat’s Twitch Bot, the community discord server’s bot, an assistant to community management, assists with tasks for streaming like creating the schedule image, looking up games and is an interface that I can utilize the Twitch API to. This integrates with my gaming livestream which I stream to a comfortable sized audience weekly over on Twitch TV. During those streams, people use the drawing game (based on the popular card game Yu-Gi-Oh!) to earn tokens in addition to help promoting the stream such as hosting or raiding the stream.
What’s Next?
So now, that you have a brief idea of what I have worked on up to this point, I would now like to share with you what I have planned for the coming year! Each of these are planned to further my goal at getting the name Galaxsi out into public knowledge. As you might be aware, plans tend to always go wrong and not go accordingly so I must stress that this is a plan and not set in stone. I will be also going into more detail about each project’s goals and why I picked them in future posts before the end of January so keep an eye out for those.
Website Update
The one thing you have probably noticed is that you are reading this on the brand-new formatted website! Now, I have had this website for quite a long time, but I have never really done much with it. I used to run a blog back when I first started working and talked about my game design things I worked on but that really didn’t go anywhere so that is why those posts are no longer available (probably for the best). If you have been here before, you will have noticed that there is a lot more options than there used to be. I go through each of the different things that I work on in each of the fields I have interests in. Not only that, but there is now a proper way for contacting me and the blog you are reading this from! I wanted to have a point of where I can share anything on my mind in relation to things that I am interested in, project updates, additions to the plan, personal blogs & more. This website is planning to increase in size to, so I look forward to growing this website as we open it up a bit more. One thing that I will ask you to do while you are checking out the website is to follow Galaxsi Studios on its social media links (Yes, we even have a LinkedIn) as I will be posting the blog updates to those pages as well. Look forward to sharing more with you!
Galaxsi Bot
The next 2 things that I am going to cover have to do with the 2 things that I have been doing the last couple of years and that is Galaxsi Bot & the Gaming Stream Channel goals. Let’s start off with the Galaxsi Bot goals. There is a bit planned such as 2 new bot games that are currently in the planning stages. The first game is a skilled-based game for Twitch where users can earn tokens but instead of a random chance, they can earn tokens by “being in the know.” The other game will be Discord based, and you will be able to do things on the discord channel that you haven’t been able to do before.
I will also be developing more of a front-end application utilising the Angular framework. I have worked on a front-end before, but I wanted to start the year off with creating a front-end application that utilises the Galaxsi Bot code that I use. Not only that, but I would like to create something where I can manage Galaxsi Bot from my smart phone so I have put in (only basic for this year) a goal to also develop a small working functionable Android App where I can use Galaxsi Bot directly which will be built using Cordova & AngularJS.
On top of those, I am also going to work on a Moderation System that can be utilised by the mods and a few more novelty systems for like jokes & quoting, clipping twitch clips & birthday announcements. Finally, I want to redesign the website. I want to basically have this be a help-guide towards utilising Galaxsi Bot (which though will start as a guide to use it in my chat, will eventually include a guide to use it in other people’s chat.
I will go into more detail about each one in the Galaxsi Bot 2022 post which will be releasing soon
Gaming Stream Goals
As for my streaming channel, I have 3 central goals that I want to accomplish this year.
Last year, we raised money for charity for Beyond Blue and because of the loving support of the community, I was able to donate a good sum of money towards the cause of mental health. I plan to do this again this year but not just once, TWICE! The first one will 100% occur in June which again will be raising money for Beyond Blue. Any money I make off my Twitch Check that month will be donated to Beyond Blue on top of donations that community members and loved ones make towards the goal. During the month of June, users will be split into 2 different teams and instead of the top 3 getting free subscriptions, it will be the top 5 of the winning team that month. There will be more details about that in the future so stay tuned! As for the second charity, I have a small plan in mind for it but it won’t be until later this year but the plan I have will involve community members and I look forward to sharing it.
The second goal this year is to grow the channel more than ever. With the anticipation around Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel releasing and other games that my community is interested in, there is a good chance we might be able to grow so I want to aim a bit higher this year. In 2020, I was able to reach 300 followers by the end of the year and then in 2021, we exceeded 500 followers which was an amazing milestone for the channel. This year, my goal is to reach 800 followers and be on our way to 1000 followers by early next year!
Last but certainly not least, I will be attempting to work on getting community events running again. Towards the end of last year, my moderation team and I had a goal to introduce more community events to cater to both the competitive & casual audiences. I would like to build upon this idea.
New Project
This year, I would love to show off a project that has constantly been sitting at the back of the audience through the last 3 years and this year, I want to finally get something working for it. This project is a new card game I have been working on since the end of 2017 & it has gotten so many rewrites & updates that I don’t even know what the game is. So I want to take some time this year for a couple of weekends & work on bringing this card game to life. I will be talking about this project in more detail but the code name for this project is currently called Dimension Battle CCG which is inspired by 2 of the popular trading card games Yu-Gi-Oh! & Magic The Gathering. I look forward to sharing more about this in the coming future!
What do you think of the goals for this year? What are you more excited for? I want to hear it on the Galaxsi Studios social media! I want to say thank you for taking the time to read this long post & I look forward to sharing more information. I want this blog to become a regular thing so I will be aiming to do these blog posts at least once a month. Let’s make a date that the next Galaxsi Studios Update won’t be earlier than February 18th 2022. Until then, I will see you online
Kind Regards,
Mathew
